Is Hearing-in-a-Box an amplifier?
Our Hearing-in-a-Box product is a fully digital hearing aid, not an amplifier. Amplifiers simply make ALL sounds louder. Digital hearing aids, such as Hearing-in-a-Box, can differentiate between sounds and are programmed to make speech easier to hear and understand. In addition, our hearing aids cover the full spectrum of sound up to 8000 Hertz, where speech sounds are found.
What if I only need one hearing aid?
In the event that you suffer from hearing loss in only one ear, you may be a candidate for a single hearing aid. However, in most cases, individuals with hearing loss greatly benefit from two hearing aids. Those with two hearing aids will experience greater sound clarity, and an overall higher quality of hearing.
Does Medicare provide any coverage toward the purchase of hearing aids?
Medicare does not offer hearing aid coverage, regardless of the type or manufacturer of the hearing aid.
There are multiple sizes of batteries. Which ones are right for my hearing aids?
Our Hearing-in-a-Box aid uses size 10 batteries, marked “p10” on our website.
How long will the batteries last?
The lifespan of your batteries will depend on the amount of time you wear your hearing aids each day. On average, you can expect between 5 to 7 days of battery life.
How do I know when it’s time to change a battery?
When your battery runs down, the hearing aid will emit 4 tones of descending pitch and say, “Low Battery”. You should replace your battery within a half hour of this warning.
How many batteries come in a pack?
Six batteries are included with each pack ordered.

How can I tell the difference between my right and left hearing aids?
Right hearing aids have a red tipped link.

What are the different programs for?
Our hearing aids have been preconfigured with four individual programs, designed to help the most common types of hearing loss:
Programs 1 and 2 are appropriate for more mild losses
Programs 3 and 4 are designed to compensate for increasing losses
Will the hearing aid save my settings once I’ve selected a program that’s right for me?
Yes, the hearing aid will remain in the last set program even after being powered off.
What is the difference between the two styles of tips?
Each Hearing-in-a-Box kit includes two different styles of tips:
The Open Fit style has openings for sound to pass through and should be used with Programs 1 and 2
The Closed Dome style does not have openings and is more appropriate for Programs 3 and 4, or when feedback is an issue
How often do I need to change the tips on my hearing aids?
We recommend changing your Open Fit and Closed Dome Tips every 6 months or as needed, or when they become discolored.
Is the hearing aid noticeable while wearing?
Hearing-in-a-Box customers can rest assured that the hearing aids’ small and discreet size make them virtually invisible when worn.
Are my Hearing-in-a-Box hearing aids waterproof?
You should take precautions to avoid exposing your hearing aids to moisture, such as they are not waterproof; however, each aid features a protective coating that creates a moisture barrier and defends against corrosion caused by sweat and hair products.
What types of environments can I wear my hearing aids in?
Hearing-in-a-Box hearing aids are effective in all types of environments and contain a special technology that helps eliminate unwanted background noise when in noisy environments, such as a busy restaurant.
